June 2024
Gainsborough, Lincolnshire – Meditrade is proud to announce the commencement of construction on the first phase of its new logistics hub in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. This will be the fourth facility, in addition to the three logistics centres in Germany.
Construction began in May 2024, marking a significant milestone in Meditrade’s commitment to enhancing its service capabilities within the UK and Ireland.
Since the establishment of Meditrade UK’s branch in 2020, the company has dedicated itself to providing efficient and rapid services to its clients across the UK and Ireland. After three years of consistent growth, in alignment with the Meditrade Group principle of maintaining control over all supply chain stages, the decision was made to develop the logistics hub to ensure a more resilient and agile supply chain.
The new hub is strategically located in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, in the East Midlands Region, offering excellent accessibility due to its superb transport connections. The first Hall will cover an impressive 115,000 square feet (10,750 square meters) and is designed to accommodate over 15,000 pallets in multi-story racks. This significant expansion in storage capacity will allow Meditrade UK to enhance inventory management and streamline delivery operations.
In line with Meditrade’s commitment to sustainability, the new logistics hub incorporates eco-design features and Net Zero technology to optimise energy use and reduce the facility’s environmental footprint. These include passive design elements, LED lighting, and advanced sensor systems. Additionally, the hub features optimised window placement, passive ventilation design, and photovoltaic systems, further enhancing its energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The project is on track for completion of the Phase 1 by the end of 2024. Upon completion, this hub will not only bolster Meditrade UK’s logistical capabilities but also reinforce its dedication to sustainability and operational excellence.
